Casa Enrico: interview with the manuarino firm of architects

Casa Enrico is a luxury detached villa at Monte di Procida, designed by the manuarino firm of architects. The house was designed using the Tr3nd by Ergon and Tele di Marmo Revolution by Emilceramica collections, both of which helped to define the visual and tactile identify of its various parts. We were able to interview architect Salvatore Vicidomini of the manuarino firm, who told us about some of the project’s key features and his vision of interior design.

1. What is the philosophy that inspires your interior design projects?

Our philosophy is nourished by a number of inputs, first and foremost our clients’ needs and wishes. Every project starts with an analysis of its location, considering the buildings already present, the character of the place and the client’s existing property. In some cases, we also draw inspiration from specific requests from clients themselves. The all-important factor is the choice of a theme for the project which is able to satisfy all these requirements. After this, we focus on our clients’ needs and work to adapt and shape the project to a consistent, clearly identifiable theme. The client, meaning the end user, is therefore the true protagonist of the design process, influencing and inspiring every phase of our work.

2. Which feature of this project did you find most exciting?

In this project we were able to work not only on the interior design but also on the architecture itself. It involved demolition followed by rebuilding, and the symbiosis between architecture and interior design was particularly strong. In this case, the two aspects dovetailed seamlessly, in a very successful combination from which they both benefited. It was thrilling to see these two facets of our wonderful profession come together in such an outstanding combination.

3. What did you most appreciate about Emilgroup?

Emilgroup provided us with the ideal solutions in terms both of sizes of materials, which met all our technical needs, and decorative potential. The Tr3nd collection tiles we chose covered all the indoor and outdoor surfaces in various sizes, with different levels of grip, and fully satisfied all functional requirements. What’s more, the decorative slabs from the Tele di Marmo Revolution had a decisive aesthetic impact, especially in the bathrooms, where they really made all the difference. The choice of materials proved to be crucial, as it supplied the perfect combination of performance and beauty.
