Hotel Marina-Port: Interview with the architect.

We had the pleasure of interviewing architect Eszter Radnóczy of the este’r partners firm, which designed the Hotel Marina-Port located on the shores of Lake Balaton in Hungary. This project is a perfect blend of modern design and natural beauty, with spaces styled to integrate attractively with the surrounding environment. The Landscape by Emilceramica collection was used for the flooring of the entire lobby of 412 m2, while the Sixty by Emilceramica collection was chosen for the bathrooms.

What is the philosophy that inspires your interior design projects?

For this lakeside hotel, our interior design philosophy focused on the creation of a serene refuge that would establish a harmonious oneness between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Inspired by Lake Balaton’s extraordinary natural beauty, we aimed to evoke a sensation of tranquillity and a connection with nature. Through the careful selection of natural materials, the choice of earthy shades and the introduction of biophilic design features, we set out to transport guests into an environment where they would feel at home at once. We designed the lobby, in particular, as a welcoming space that would encourage guests to leave all their worries behind them and immerse themselves in the serene beauty of the lake. The use of natural materials such as wood, stone and reeds, together with the inclusion of natural features such as plants, fire and natural daylight, all helped to create a visually attractive, emotionally engaging place.

Which aspect of this project did you find most exciting?

The most exciting part of this project was the opportunity to create a space where people could establish a direct link to nature. Defining the boundaries of the lobby and establishing the relationships between the various functional areas (bar, restaurant and corridors) was particularly challenging. I was very pleased that we succeeded in designing a coherent, aesthetically balanced overall layout within such an open, fluid space. We were delighted by the chance to use natural materials and features to create a relaxing yet inspiring mood. Our greatest reward was seeing how much guests liked this connection with nature.

What did you most appreciate about Emilgroup?

I was very impressed by the quality and variety of the Emilgroup products. The ceramic tiles from the Landscape collection in Sabbia shade we chose for our project fulfilled all our expectations in both aesthetic and functional terms. The colours and patterns of the Emilgroup collections are really beautiful. The Emilgroup team were always ready to help us in making our choice and to answer all our questions throughout the project. Thanks to their support, we were able to bring our vision to successful fruition.
