Kenese Bay Garden Hotel: designer interview

We interviewed designer Gergő Fejes of the Plusdesign Studio Kft firm, who created the project for the Kenese Bay Garden Hotel, a luxury hotel on the shores of Lake Balaton, in Hungary. The hotel’s sophisticated modern design blends perfectly into its natural surroundings. These characteristics recently won the project an honourable mention at the Emilgroup Project Awards 2024.

We put some questions about his project to the designer.

1. What did you like best about Emilgroup’s collections?

The Emilgroup collections’ main characteristic is the ability of their porcelain stoneware tiles to accurately reproduce natural materials like stone, marble and wood. What’s more, the latest collections offer amazing colours and designs, which I view as these products’ principal strengths.

2. How do you envision the use of ceramics in the future of architecture?

I’m certain that porcelain stoneware will be more and more widely used in the future, and not only for covering walls and floors. As an interior designer, I use it very often to create bespoke furniture and a variety of design features.
