Oasi Belvedere Spa Wellness Beauty: architect interview

We interviewed architect Fabrizio Guffanti of the Guffanti Lissi Associati firm, which worked with the Zanin Architetti firm on the design of the Oasi Belvedere Spa Wellness Beauty hotel. The Oasi Belvedere Spa Wellness Beauty, located in Locarno, Switzerland, won the coveted prize in the Inspiration category at the Emilgroup Project Awards 2024.

We questioned the architect about his design choices and the evolution of ceramics in architecture.

1. What did you like best about Emilgroup’s collections?

The search for materials that express special emotions and sensations is part of what we do every day. We were struck by the vast range of options Emilgroup offers in terms of finishes, shapes and sizes. But we weren’t only impressed by the variety: the fantastic design advice you provided for the development of details was fundamental for our work. In other words, Emilgroup provided us with across-the-board support and offered us versatile, innovative solutions.

2. How do you envision the use of ceramics in the future of architecture?

Ceramics are one of the many materials that help to define our projects’ “skin”, both internal and external. In the last few years ceramics have gained growing importance in the world of architecture, and they’ll continue to play a fundamental role in the future. I believe it’s essential to create a synergy between materials and design, factoring in clients’ needs and the market’s lead-times, to provide more and more innovative solutions in line with the latest trends.
