Totalook: interview with the designer
The “Terrace like a sandy beach” project, located at Bad St. Leonhard, in Austria, marks a revolution in the design of outdoor spaces. Created by SF Smart Flooring System, it won the Evolution category of the Emilgroup Project Awards 2024 prize for its skilful use of Emilgroup’s Pave and Go system.
We interviewed Gerald Weiß, Managing Director of SF Smart Flooring System, who oversaw this amazing project.
In the case of this project, one of the main challenges was to choose not only the most suitable material for the customer but also the product the company could produce to the highest standards. The crucial question was: what was the key to constructing an outdoor environment that would withstand the elements? The Emilgroup Pave and Go system is our first choice every time. This system is not only stunning in appearance but also extremely resistant, ensuring outstanding durability over time. Emilgroup’s innovation in creating solutions like this was fundamental for our project, which aimed to strike a balance between beauty and functionality.
In the past, there was a reduction in the use of ceramics due to the adoption of new materials such as PVC floorings, especially for indoor use. In response, the ceramics industry had to evolve and come up with new solutions, to meet the market’s demands. Emilgroup was the first to appreciate this need by introducing the Pave and Go system, which combines ceramics and polyurethane in a single solution. This innovation is a genuine revolution in the paving, flooring and wall covering sector. We believe that the future of ceramics lies in their ability to resolve practical problems with leading-edge solutions like this Emilgroup system.
