Via Inverigo 4 in Milan: architect interview

We interviewed architects Emiliano Rossetto and Marco Zora of the RZ Architettura firm, who handled the renovation of an elegant apartment building at Via Inverigo 4 in Milan. The project received an honourable mention at the Emilgroup Project Awards 2024 for its expert use of Emilgroup ceramic products in the realisation of the ventilated facade and the internal coverings of the apartments.

We quizzed the architects on their approach to design and their use of the Emilgroup collections.

1. What did you like best about Emilgroup’s collections?

Ceramics are much more flexible nowadays than a few years ago, thanks to thinner and thinner thicknesses and innovative material-effect textures. As a result, we’re even using them in place of traditional wallpapers, previously viewed as the most versatile material. Today, we can truly do everything with ceramics, for both interior and exterior design. With Emilgroup, we created a project team, enabling us to come up with fascinating, innovative solutions. What’s more, our relationship with the Emilgroup technical and sales staff made us all one big family, with collaboration at its core.

2. How do you envision the use of ceramics in the future of architecture?

Design is going to go increasingly in the direction of ceramics, especially given the reduction in thicknesses and the potentials for customising images. With these developments, we can achieve incredible effects and create completely different interiors even inside the same building.
