Ähtäri Swimming Pool: an oasis for relaxation, blending architecture and nature

Studio Puisto

The lovely setting of Ähtäri, in the heart of Finland, is the location of Ähtäri Swimming Pool, designed by the Studio Puisto architecture firm with the aim of a creating a place that would combine the relaxing mood of a spa with the convenience of a modern public swimming-pool. 1650 m² in area, the facility is designed to serve both holidaymakers visiting the Ähtäri Resort and local residents, and to offer them an immersive, refined experience.

The interior design has a sophisticated, minimalist aesthetic with a neutral colour scheme and features high quality materials. The Grain Stone by Ergon collection, chosen for the floor and wall coverings, emphasises the design concept with its natural texture and the durability of its surfaces. In Grey shade with Rough Grain finish, the material provides an authentic, tactile look and blends perfectly with the architecture inspired by the natural features of the Finnish landscape.

For the surfaces of the spaces around the pool, the changing-rooms and the washrooms, the architects chose the Grain Stone collection’s 60x120 cm and 80x80 cm sizes to provide visual continuity and spatial harmony. What’s more, the 30x30 cm mosaic, in Dark and Grey shades, was used to highlight the details and add depth to the interiors, with a touch of functional elegance.

The Ähtäri Swimming Pool is an excellent example of contemporary design, in which quality materials and a cutting-edge aesthetic meet to create a welcoming, relaxing location. A destination for people in search of wellness in an exclusive context, where architecture and nature dialogue in perfect harmony.
